Leaders in Convenient CME
Our founder, Jerry Pettis, secured a $10,000 loan to start an organization that would offer CME/CE to medical professionals nationwide. Pettis was a public relations advisor for the Los Angeles County Medical Association and later became a California congressman. The idea for what is now considered Continuing Medical Education credits started with a trip to a physician's office. While Pettis waited for the physician to finish with a patient, he noticed a stack of medical journals on the desk and wondered how any one doctor found the time to read and learn from so much information. The following year, Pettis founded the AudioDigest Foundation as a nonprofit affiliate of the California Medical Association and launched its first recorded series of medical lectures.
Since 1952, the AudioDigest learning platform has evolved from a reel-to-reel based business into one of the most technically advanced online continuing medical education platforms available. In our 70+ years of service to the medical industry we have published more than 17,000 medical lectures across 14 specialties and issuing over 2,000,000 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ every year. We offer thousands of accredited courses from over 120 leading institutions like Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and Cleveland Clinic.
AudioDigest has been an accredited provider of CME since the accreditation requirements were established for physicians in 1981. Our education content is also accredited for physician assistants, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses (e.g., NPs, CRNAs), psychologists, registered dietitians, and pharmacists. We're one of the only organizations to have earned and awarded Joint Accreditation — ACCEM for physicians, ACPE for pharmacists, and ANCC for nurses — which promotes continuing education specifically designed to improve interprofessional collaborative practice in healthcare delivery.
